About Hebrew Free Loan The Hebrew Free Loan Association of South Florida, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, funded entirely by private donations. Since its inception in 1950, the organization has been based on the age-old biblical tradition of Gemilut Chasodim: to perform acts of loving kindness while preventing beneficiaries from becoming objects of charity. From its modest beginnings, the HFLA has continuously provided interest-free loans to members in the Jewish community of South Florida during their times of need. We are extremely proud that today the loan limits have been raised substantially, yet the vision has remained the same: providing dignity and helping people to help themselves. HFLA loan programs include help for emergency situations such as, medical and dental expenses, housing and car repairs, life-cycle events, loans for early childhood education and adult continuing education, home healthcare, immigration costs, divorce, and victims of domestic violence. Since its inception, HFLA has helped to improve the quality of life for countless individuals and families both in Dade and South Broward counties. HFLA is a source of economic justice in the community. The assistance HFLA provides is unique, providing cash in hand. HFLA loan programs impact lives, change lives and save lives, working to alleviate poverty and to promote increased self-sufficiency "If there is among you a needy person… You should open your
hand wide to him, and you should surely lend him sufficient for his
needs." - Deuteronomy 15:11 |
